Treasurers Roles
The role of a treasurer in a college club is crucial for managing the financial health of the organization. Here are examples primary responsibilities:
Budgeting: The treasurer is responsible for preparing the club's annual budget, forecasting income and expenses, and ensuring that the club's financial activities align with its goals.
Record-Keeping: They maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including receipts, payments, and bank statements.
Fundraising: The treasurer often helps plan and oversee fundraising activities to generate revenue for the club. They also track and manage the funds raised.
Expense Management: They review and approve club expenses, ensuring they are within the budget. They may also reimburse members for approved out-of-pocket expenses.
Financial Reporting: The treasurer prepares and presents financial reports to the club's leadership and members, providing transparency on the club's financial status.
Compliance: They ensure that the club complies with all financial regulations and policies set by the college or university, such as timely submission of financial documents and reports.
Bank Account Management: If the club has a bank account, the treasurer manages it, including making deposits, writing checks, and reconciling the account.
