Preparing for Fall Break

Fall Break will be here before we know it! Please make sure to complete the Fall Break Survey by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16 to alert the Housing Office of your plans. If you plan to be on campus and would like to pick up meals that Thursday and Friday, you must RSVP in the Fall Break Survey.

The Housing Office, Academic Support Hub, and campus dining venues will have adjusted hours and closures throughout the break. You can find specific closure information throughout The Verve, and stay tuned to your email for more fall break information as well.

Residents who are leaving off-campus for one night or more or who are planning to attend a gathering off-campus are strongly encouraged to test prior to returning to campus or as soon as they return to campus. All COVID-19 test results throughout the semester should be uploaded via the Student COVID-19 Testing Form.

The Stan State COVID-19 Testing Sites will be closed November 25 and November 26 and will re-open Monday, November 29.

Disposing of Pumpkins

Now that the Halloween holiday has passed, please remember to dispose of your Jack-o-Lanterns to prevent them from rotting in the hallway. Pumpkins can be tossed in any of the dumpsters just outside of the Village.

Installations in Village 1

You may notice maintenance occurring around Village 1 over the next few weeks as we install hard wire internet connections to improve WiFi in that area.

The ZamCom team has most recently been working through units ending in -03 and will continue with -02, -01 and so on. It can take anywhere from 2-4 days, sometimes more, to complete the hard wire cable process in one column (i.e. 103, 203, and 303).

Data ports in the completed units have not been activated yet; this will take place at a later date.

Alcohol Poisoning:
What to Do

Hey Warriors! HEP here again – and this time we’re talking about what to do in the case of an alcohol poisoning situation.

What is alcohol poisoning?
Alcohol poisoning is a serious – and sometimes deadly – consequence of drinking large amounts of alcohol in a short period of time. Drinking too much too quickly can affect your breathing, heart rate, gag reflex, and potentially lead to coma and death.

Know the signs ("MUST HELP"):
M - Mental Confusion
U - Unresponsive
S - Snoring/Gasping for air
T - Throwing up
H - Hypothermia
E - Erratic Breathing
L - Loss of Consciousness
P - Paleness/Blueness of Skin

What to do in an alcohol overdose situation?
If a person is unconscious, breathing less than 8 breaths per minute, or has repeated, controlled vomiting…CALL 911.

For more information, visit our Alcohol Poisoning website and or the Aware, Awake, Alive website.
