HAVEN (Healthy Alternatives to Violent Environments) is a nonprofit based out of Modesto and Turlock, that operates on Stanislaus State campus to provide advocacy and education. The Victim Advocate and Educator work alongside each other to provide valuable workshops/presentations and support to the campus community. Navigating a traumatic time or event with a survivor and working together to find create a safety plan that prioritizes their wellbeing.
Providing one-on-one peer counseling at the survivor's desired pace. Starting by listening and then talking through the difficult emotions that come with trauma.
No one is required to file a report and there are many valid reasons why someone may choose not to. If that is desired, you don't have to do it alone.
Accompanying survivors to court, to law enforcement, or to the hospital, if requested.
Creating and giving workshops and presentations on a wide range of topics. Available to any student or campus department or group. See page for more.
Able to give referrals to many helpful resources and organizations in the area. From shelter/housing, food access, clothing access, LGBTQAI+ support, legal assistance, and more.
